BLIGHT
BLIGHT a new Bi-lingual theatrical film was develop in collaboration with Egyptian Director and Producer Beshoy Adel Makram. The project was the third collaboration between Tom and Beshoy and was funded by Farnham Maltings through their New Conversations grant.
This unique project was an experimental process designed to enable international cultural collaboration without the need for the artists to travel to each others countries. Developed over 12 months from July 2023 - June 2024 the Bi-lingual theatrical film was based on a true story during the Famine
A fantastic challenging experiment; Tom and Beshoy created this innovative piece through a shared rehearsal room in Belfast and El Minya Egypt, developing the bi-lingual theatre script, to rehearsing and then filming in both locations simultaneously.
Working alongside Tom and Beshoy on the experiment in Belfast were actors Christine Clare and John Travers and Videographer Thomas Pollock. The Egyptian team were Videographer and editor John Edwar, Choreographer Koko Malak and actors Hady Haron and Mohammed Shaarawi from El Minya.
