This new play written by Tom is based on booked ‘One Day in
My Life’ by Bobby Sands.
A frightening example of
man’s inhumanity to man. A human document of suffering, determination, anguish,
courage and faith.
A minute-by-minute account of
a brave man’s struggle to preserve his identity against cold, dirt and boredom.
A single day telling the
enclosed hell of Long Kesh, the poor food, the harassment and the humiliating
mirror searches. Often gripped in Terror Bobby Sands and his comrades were
often gripped by terror, in the face of an iron system that held them and yet
their courage never faltered.
Written on toilet paper with
a biro refill and hidden inside his own body, this is a book of human bravery
and endurance.
This new production, originally developed through a rehearsed reading in 2022, is being created in partnership with actors John Travers and Brian Markey. It will be produced for the 45 anniversary of Bobby Sands death in 2026.
