Produced for Terra Nova Productions alongside Artistic Director Andrea Montgomery, The Belfast Tempest was the biggest Shakespeare production the city has ever scene. With a cast of over 250 performers from across the city the production was co-directed by Andrea and Tom as a celebration of the 400 anniversary of Shakespeare death in 2016.
The unique adaption of Shakespeare's The Tempest with it's Belfast Twist, explored the city's rich industrial past, its uncertain present and looked towards it's intercultural future. It was was staged in a warehouse underneath the city's famous Harland and Wolfe cranes in a purpose built arena.
Working with Belfast City Council Arts and heritage department and strategic partners right across the city including Libraries NI, The Crescent Arts Centre, The African and Caribbean Support Organisation and T13 Warehouse, this unique intercultural production involved a professional cast of 12 and a community cast of over 250.
It was one of four projects supported by Belfast City Council's through their Creative and Cultural Belfast programme.
